The sun had set a long time ago, the dark Southern California sky was almost hypnotically beautiful with the way the stars looked in the sky. Sitting on one of the chairs of the balcony of the Los Angeles home she shared with her hus...soon to be husband, Astrid Sedin was seen sipping at a glass of rosé as she looked up at the stars. It had been a tense few days for her with the quick formation of Iconic Pro Wrestling as well as the Hawaii trip… well needless to say she was a bit more tense than usual. Sighing, she took a rather large sip. Her legs had been brought up towards her chest, allowing Astrid to rest her chin on her knees as she fought all the thoughts that were rattling around in her brain.
“You know should really stop that!”
Grimacing as he steps out onto the balcony, Joshua Samson, Esquire, a glass of cognac in hand and an unlit cigar dangling from his middle and index fingers. The normally dapper suited businessman was strangely dressed down in a white t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops.
“You know you should really stop that… the smoking and the drinking. At least I only have the one vice.”
Astrid took another sip of her wine, allowing the liquid to linger on her lips before licking them clean. Joshua slightly bent over to give her a quick peck on the lips before plopping down in the chair next to her.
”I’ll probably never giving up the fine taste of cognac mixed in with the exquisite flavor of a good cigar. But I’m not talking about your vice. I’m talking about this incessant beef you have with Fay...I mean, Savannah, Gizzy.”
“The bitch brought my sister into it. She started it… and if she can’t handle it… well she knows where the door is. Honestly, the level of disrespect from her and that Zabrina/Brigitte bitch… I would really like to bash in all their heads. Or something of that nature. Faline or whatever name her drugged up parents called her… she’s going to get what is hers.”
Shaking his head, Joshua reaches into his shorts’ pocket and produces a lighter. Pushing the cigar into his mouth, he lights it while taking two slow pulls.
“But you do realize you jump onto the tweets without any provocation? Neither Savannah or Brigitte are thinking about you ninety-eight percent of the time.”
“Then explain to me why you’re replying to their tweets about them running naked in front of our home, thus enabling them, and sneaking around my back and keeping secrets from me? You had to go and sign her to ISM when YOU KNEW I can’t stand the bitch. And now that had dad is an investor, you know DAMN WELL she’s going to run crying to him whenever she wants something and he’ll threaten to pull his funding if you don’t give it to her. I might be blonde but I’m not stupid. Her existence is enough to provoke me. Or did you forget how she tried to get into your pants at Bloodbath?”
He exhales a plume of smoke that floats above his head.
“They’re my clients, woman! I thought what she tweeted about running naked was funny. It wasn’t like she directed the tweet at me. She simple tweeted and I responded. Goddamn!”
He takes a sip of the liquor before continuing.
“Regardless of how much money Gregory Reynolds invests, the agreement that he has agreed to, like all the members of Iconic Media LLC, is his vote is as equal as everyone else’s but there is only one managing member and that is me.”
“So again… you lied to me. Because YOU said we were going to be partners in all of this and you’ve lessened me down to the likes of some half wit’s father who knows nothing about this business and instead goes and gets his head slammed into the ground. I think there’s some weird shit going on there because Rabid Cat Bitch said he’s the only man she’s loved. You sure they’re really father and daughter and not sleeping together? I mean she does seem desperate to get laid.”
“I have no idea about her sexual relations, Astrid.”
Joshua cuts his eyes away from her and takes another puff from the cigar, swishing the smoke in his mouth before releasing it into the forming cloud hovering above his head.
“We are partners in this but you CAN’T be an active wrestler in the company and be a member. It’s a conflict of interest. Hell, it’s the same crap that was going on in EHWF that you were so vocal about.”
“So now you’re likening me to that asshole? You’re lying to me, keeping secrets from me and not allowing me to have the say in this company that I have given my LIFE SAVINGS for. Maybe this was a mistake? Should I ask for my money back? Should I quit? You tell me what I should be doing because I feel like I’ve made a mistake and been made a fool of.”
Astrid took a rather long swig of her wine.
“It’s honestly beginning to feel like you’re taking HER side and that you’re never going to be on mine. You had the ability to deny her representation when she is not deserving of your talents. You never even retweet any of my stuff and hardly like it. Maybe this whole idea was a mistake.”
“Do you hear yourself right now? I fully understand, though I don’t agree, why you might be stressed out because of the wedding this weekend, but you need to calm the hell down. You know I’m not keeping any secrets from you, Astrid. You’re not the only one that has put every single penny into this wrestling company. But I’ve told you already that I’ll buy you out and you won’t have to worry about anything IPW.”
“A wedding that you forgot about and then tried to reschedule because obviously it doesn’t mean as much to you. And don’t lie… you’re lying… SHE even said you were keeping her secret. And you kept it for so long. You’re keeping Mongrel’s real identity from me when I know what his last name was. You kept the fact that you were married a secret from me until I was publicly embarrassed on national television. I only kept those two from you because they were a dark period in my life that I would rather forgotten about and then rubbed it in my face. You kept me from getting what I rightfully deserve and then when I finally do get it… the company goes belly up practically. You never could admit to me that you favored Bill over me and let him get that title shot right away when he came back from an injury. And look what happened… he pulled out of it. You should’ve put me in that match so I could yet again have made Raab and Hunter my bitch. Instead, I was in some stupid tag team opening match where I demolished your precious Faline.”
“You are out of your fucking mind, Astrid! Everything you just spewed makes no fucking sense at all! You want to talk about secrets?! This whole wedding is a fucking farce that you’re getting yourself all worked up over! What’s the fucking point when we’re already…”
Clearly angered, Joshua stands to his feet and walks to peer over the balcony.
“I’m over this bullshit. I’m over all of it. If you want out then goodbye.”
“DID I SAY I WANTED OUT!? Tell me when I said that I wanted out. What I said was for YOU to tell me if I made a mistake or not. Now it sounds like you’re the one giving up. When your mother found out that we did what we did, I got an earful about everything and so I agreed to have this wedding. Besides, I had a designer dress hanging in my closet that I wasn’t going to let go to waste. So tell me… do I need to pack things up and go to Dana Point tonight with Hanna or are you going to let me be in the role I deserve… or am I going to be the Joanna to your Michael? I’m capable of being both… and only throwing my weight around when it’s absolutely called for.”
“I’ve already made it clear to you, Astrid. There is no way that a controlling member will be an active wrestler. I refuse to have this be EHWF version two point oh. You and I are partners. Our names are on the LLC under our business names, but I have the title of managing member. If you can’t handle that, the decision is up to you on what you’re going to do. Either we’ll wake up next to each other in the morning or I’ll see you in Hawaii on Wednesday.”
He takes a long sip of his cognac followed by a huge drag of the cigar.
“I just want to have more of a say than Gregory… and I want first dibs at the title.”
“Concentrate LESS on the business end of the sport and MORE one the sport end of the business, Astrid. I know what I’m doing and after a year and a half I still don’t understand why you don’t understand that?!”
“Hey, I’ve never been in this position before. I am trying to learn.”
Joshua can’t help but soften upon hearing her words; even managing a small smile.
“I know you are, Astrid. I really do but as your husband...to be...you have to trust in me. I’ll always have nothing but our best interest in mind.”
“Then answer me this… at some point can we have Hanna with us permanently? I really have enjoyed all this time she’s spent with us.”
“Of course we can. Do you think I haven’t been making all these business moves for nothing? Think about it, we’ve walked away from EHWF so that will cut out the majority of our touring. I’ve been pressuring you to only work for companies in this state or very close vicinity. Hell, I’ve started a damn company so you don’t even need to wrestle anywhere else. Us being stable is far more conducive for a thirteen year old. I don’t know why she even has to go back to Pennsylvania?!”
“For school until a custody thingy can be… talk to Leo. He’s more savvy with that kind of thing. Just know the next time Faline brings up my sister, cause we all know that will happen cause she’ll stoop that low, I won’t hesitate to kick the ever loving shit out of her. Hanna is innocent and doesn’t deserve to be brought in by somebody who can’t fend for themselves. Her insults are starting to get as bad as Kieran’s”
“You can always delete your Twitter account.”
He chuckles as he takes another pull from the cigar.
“It’s all a part of the verbal war we engage in in this sport called wrestling, sweetheart.”
“You have a better chance at seeing cognac fall from the sky as rain than me delete my Twitter account. But my sister… she’s a different story and if someone talks shit… they will get hit.”
Slowly Astrid approached him and wrapped her arms around his waist.
“I know I can be a raging bitch sometimes. I am sorry.”
Astrid snuggled into his back.
“Maybe we should just head inside and watch a movie, relax and try to forget about all of this.”
He wiggles around to face her.
“That sounds like a plan. Go ahead and I’ll be in after I finish this cigar. Okay?”
“Sounds good to me.”
She grabs her glass of wine and finishes it off as she walks into the bedroom. Watching her small frame sashay back into the house, Joshua shakes his head before sipping on his drink again and pulling a puff from the cigar.
“You know should really stop that!”
