It was the early afternoon of St. Paddy’s day and the In-N-Out Burger near the UCLA campus was popping with college kids dragging themselves in before they start their drinking shenanigans. But in an area that looks out into the parking lot, the blonde hair of Astrid Sedin pokes out as she appears to be waiting for her niece Jazmin Davis to arrive for their talk. She was dressed casually but still like she was going to church… which was something she opted to skip this week.
The person in question hadn’t opted out as Jaz pushes through the entrance of the restaurant dressed in her Sunday’s Best. Spotting her aunt, she smiles, waves, and makes her way to the table.
Jazmin: Hey, Auntie.
Astrid: Hey Jazzy… please take a seat. Did you want something to eat? I was going to order something but the line just keeps getting longer and longer.
The twenty-one year slides into a chai, taking particular note of the almost business-like mannerism of the twenty-six year old.
Jazmin: No, I’m good, Astrid. Maybe I’ll get somethin’ to go after we’re done here.
Astrid nods her head as a slight sigh escapes from her pinky nude lips.
Astrid: OK. I know you want to get back to Him and so I’ll keep this short and sweet. For my own personal sanity and that of your uncle… please back off of Catriona. Please…
Jazmin: Marquise is fine. He’s at home.
Jaz purses up her own lips, a slight aggravated expression coming across her face.
Jazmin: Why?
Astrid: Because I want to fix what is going on between me and Joshua. And I can’t do that if you keep attacking his friends. I didn’t want you to take sides and it has become clear which side you’re on. And while I thank you for fighting for our family and all that… I don’t want you to do something that you’ll regret. I don’t want you to make a mistake like I did, let my anger take control because I did that once and ended up getting arrested.
Jazmin: Friend? Is that what we’re goin’ to do? Just sit here and act like that’s what’s goin’ on? I’m astonished that you think that not taking a fight to these tricks will get you your husband back.
Astrid: There’s a different way to go about it than using brute force. Right now, to me, that’s the last possible option. Don’t get me wrong, you know that I’ll do whatever I have to… but I don’t need or want Joshua any more mad at me. This anger you have, I know that it’s coming out of love in some twisted way, but it’s hurting both of us. Because he… I think he’s hurt that you’ve taken my side. He might not be one to admit it… but I know him better than he thinks I do sometimes. I talked you down from going to Brentwood on Thursday and so I’m going to try and do that again today.
Rolling her eyes, Jaz exhales loudly.
Jazmin: It’s not goin’ to work this time, Astrid. Admittedly I was a bit twisted off of a couple shots of tequila, so I wasn’t fully of sound mind. But now, right this minute with not an ounce of liquor in me, you can’t talk me you of beatin’ this tricks ass!
Astrid: Jazzy, I love you, but I’ll put your ass in a headlock right here and now until you agree to it. I want to fix things with Joshua and if you go after her, clearly showing your side, it won’t get to that point. Please… I want my family back together… you, Josh, Hanna… you’re my family. We’re broken and we need to fix it… I need to fix it.
She sighs and lowers her head.
Astrid: It hurts more me than anything that he’s spending his time with women like Catriona and I’ve considered taking her out like I did Penny… but it didn’t work last time.
Jazmin: So we’re just goin’ to let these thirsty hoes keep on thinkin’ they have a chance?! It doesn’t make any sense to me.
Astrid: Oh I can tell the thirst is real with them… but we are adults and not children. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again… you want to fight her, do it in the ring. What’s been happening at ICWA shouldn’t have happened just like IPW. I doubt there’s anything going on beyond a client and executive representative with your uncle and Catriona anyway.
Jazmin: Really, Astrid?! Really?! You do know everyone thought that about you two two years ago, right?
She shakes her head in frustration.
Jazmin: And like I’ve said, I don’t want to wrestle her, I want to fight her. This is way beyond wrestlin’. When it was her simply spittin’ in Mischa’s face, I was willin’ to let it be all about wrestlin’. But now she has an ass whoopin’ coming.
Astrid: What if I talked to her about making an apology or something? You could try asking for an unsanctioned match or something of that nature to get the urge to fight out of your system. I don’t really want to use my alpha bitch side… but this shit is ridiculously getting out of hand. Do you really think a 3 on 1 attack is going to fix things?
Jazmin: What Mischa and Judy decide to do is on them. They’re my girls, ride or die, but I never told them to jump into this. And I don’t know what you talkin’ to her will do. Hell, no one wants an half hearted apology.
Astrid: You think I don’t know that? Their behavior makes me ashamed to be a part of Fempire and I seriously am considering wanting out because of their childish antics. The only one who has an argument of those two as to why they’re mad at Catriona is Mischa. What was done that night was appalling. Judy… she’s just trying to latch on to you and her because she’s fully incapable of standing on her own. But I’m asking you from the bottom of my heart… to please end this vendetta against Catriona. It’s my fight and I know you don’t think I want to fight but I’m trying to think of so many ways to get through to Joshua that will work.
Jazmin: No disrespect, Auntie, but just sittin’ back while he openly flaunts his whores in your face isn’t workin’. It just isn’t…
She peers around the crowded establishment before making eye contact with Astrid again.
Jazmin: But I guess I can cool out for now. Not for her but for you.
Astrid: That’s all I ask… to cool it for now… for me. I owe you big time. I’m still going to talk to her and see if I can get her to lay off of you as well. Mischa and Judy… they’re on their own because they’re not my family. And if she puts another hand on you again… I’ll end her myself.
Jazmin: You don’t owe me anythin’, Auntie. We’re family and if I haven’t learned anythin’ from my Daddy, it’s family fights for family. And there is no need to talk to her about me. Since I’m banned from any ICWA events we won’t run into each other.
Astrid: But you both can still attend IPW events… so there’s a risk there it could happen at the Iconic Arena. So I’m going to talk to her… and nip this thing in the bud before it goes any further.
Jazmin: I don’t foresee coming to any of those for awhile either. So no worries from me. Besides I have two months of classes left and my finals will be takin’ up all my time.
Astrid: Well you bury your nose in those books lady.
She looks at Jazmin sternly.
Jazmin: It’s all downhill now. My onsite practicals have been the hardest thing. The finals are goin’ to be a breeze.
Astrid: If I can get through the Bar Exam you can get through this.
Jazmin: For sure. So we good, Auntie?
Astrid: Yes… we’re good as long as I don’t have to kick your ass somewhere down the road.
Jazmin giggles.
Jazmin: Hopefully that day doesn’t come any day soon. I’m goin’ to go get in this line before it starts to wrap around the buildin’.
Astrid: Here take my card and get me something too. That way one of us can save the table while the other is in line. Even if you’re getting yours to go… I think I’m going to hang out for a bit.
Taking the plastic card, Jazmin nods. Astrid smiles as she walks away, the scene slowly fading out to black.
