ICWA in jeopardy of folding, says head trainer
Head trainer of Iconic California Wrestling Alliance told USA Today Wrestling that the developmental company is in danger of folding without help from Iconic Professional Wrestling.
Tapioca Joe, who became the ICWA's head trainer several months ago, told USA Today Wrestling in a recent interview that IPW is not cooperating with ICWA by refusing to allow the developmental company to use their Icons.
"If the partnered companies are not going to give us young wrestlers, we can't be a development company," Joe told USA Today Wrestling. "We are looking at our options, one of which is discontinuing the company."
Joe said he expects to hear a decision about the company's future in the coming days.
IPW had no official response to Joe's comment, according to USA Today Wrestling, but an anonymous IPW official cited numerous concerns with allowing its Icons to wrestle in ICWA, including potential injury risk and subsequent lawsuits.
Unsigned wrestlers, including enhancement talent, are free to join ICWA at any time but ICWA would need IPW's co-operation to acquire a potential Icon who currently is signed to a futures contract with the Santa Monica based wrestling company.
Tapioca Joe, who also is the IPW General Manager, reported that Iconic Sports Management (a major sponsor) made a sizable six figure investment in ICWA last month after the company reportedly was in danger of not making payroll.
Currently ICWA is heavily featured with talent associated with California Wrestling, an affiliate of IPW.Taken from IPWFanz.com
