The sun was shining down as the scene opens up as a black Lexus RX 350 moves along the I-10 in southern California in the direction of Palm Springs. Inside the vehicle, sitting comfy and cozy in the back seat was new Fierce signee Catriona MacKenzie. And she isn’t alone either, being accompanied by her Executive Representative Extraordinaire (and also boyfriend) Joshua Samson, Esquire, who is browsing the LA Times newspaper. Catriona looks out the window, watching as the landscape passes her by, one earbud from her newly acquired iPhone XR in her left ear.
Samson: (looking up from reading) You okay, Scotti?
Catriona: Yeah… just thinking about my match is all. Trying to remain focused and all of that so that I’m prepared. The sudden closure of CW still has me shaken a little bit is all.
Joshua reaches over and rubs her leg to try to put her at ease.
Samson: Why?
Catriona: I spent all that time, busting my ass and dealing with those hyenas when I could have been focusing on the real task at hand… the title. And when I finally do win it, boom… closed.
She sighs as she looks over at him.
Catriona: Just sucks is all.
Samson: Don’t dwell on that, baby. There will be plenty more opportunities that are going to come your way. Fierce Wrestling is a new beginning… another chance for the Highlander Era.
Catriona: I know, I know… you’ve told me that a time or two. But what is really bothersome is the fact that… oh it’s just silly nonsense. I’m just overthinking things. But the sting won’t go away. This is my third company… I just want to find somewhere I can flourish.
Samson: I have a good feeling about this place, Scotti. I truly do believe that you’ll be at the top in no time and this time it won’t be for a developmental school competing against neophytes.
Catriona: I only went in there because of the injury and even when that was cleared… it was like they were purposely holding me down because they knew what I was capable of. I don’t know… but what I do know is that whatever the name of the now former owner is… he’s clearly not as well of a businessman as you are.
Catriona smiles a bit as she grabs her bottle of water from her bag.
Catriona: He’s a self centered prick.
Joshua chuckles.
Samson: I wouldn’t go that far, baby. We still don’t know why California Wrestling ceased operations. After we, Iconic Sports Management, dissolved our partnership with them, we pretty much stop keeping tabs on them. For all we know Ethan Roerich may have gotten hit by a truck or something.
Catriona: Well that was smart of you. They were leeching off the Iconic name anyway and it's pretty clear that the money from you guys was keeping them in business. Though, a heads up would have been nice. It kind of pisses me off that it just ended like that.
Taking a sip of the water, she pulls the earbud out of her ear.
Samson: That’s not quite true. We were engaged in a mutual business partnership. If you’re not careful you might get mistaken for Asti.
Another chuckle.
Catriona: Well then maybe I’ve been around here a little too much.
A slight chuckle escapes from her lips.
Catriona: Did you know that you’re niece is on the roster as well?
Samson: Of course. She is a client of ISM. Not my personal client anymore but a client nonetheless.
Catriona: Guess I’m just a little bit worried since she still seems to hate me. I feel like I am the reason why she’s not talking to you. I didn’t realize I was going to cause so many problems with people. But I guess that is what I get for being outspoken.
Samson: Worried why though? She hasn’t said anything to you since Asti talked to her right?
Catriona: Don’t you don’t remember her whole “on sight” mantra when the whole hyena thing was going down? But yeah… I just don’t want her ruining my debut. I am considering Syn a warm up for when I make it onto Bliss.
Samson: I don’t think she’s go back on her word with Asti. Of course don’t expect any hugs and kisses if you see each other backstage at any point. You don’t need to worry about none of that though. Like you said, Syn is your warmup. Breeze through these two women and shine bright light the star you are.
Catriona: Just a lot is running through my head. I do believe that is common when starting a new job? To be honest the only one I wasn’t nervous about was starting at the ISM offices. The big boss there seems to take a liking to me.
She reaches her hand up to gently massage the back of his neck.
Catriona: He seems to like me a lot actually.
Samson: Gabriel?!
Catriona: I said the big boss.
Samson: Dominique?
He cracks a smile at her while thoroughly enjoying the massage.
Catriona: OK… now you’re just being silly and trying to get a rise out of me.
He leans over and gives her a kiss.
Samson: Well only paying you back for the constant rise you give me.
Catriona: Joshua Samson! You know that’s not the type of rise I was talking about. Besides… the driver can hear you!
She gently slides her hand down to lock within his fingers.
Samson: And? When a man loves a woman getting a rise is quite normal and I’m not ashamed if the whole world knows it. I love you, Catriona Maggie MacKenzie Fraser!
Catriona: Ooh the full name. Are you sure I’m not in trouble?
She looks at him with a playful glare.
Catriona: And yes I know you love me… just as much as I love you. I have the evidence of that right here.
She holds up her left arm to show off the gold Cartier bracelet as it glistened in the sunlight.
Samson: It looks just as good as my matching one.
He holds up his left arm as well as the sunlight bounces off the gold.
Catriona: Hope you brought the key for it so we can take it off before the match. I don’t want to ruin it or anything.
Catriona tucks a section of her hair behind her ear.
Catriona: We have to figure out how we’re going to tell Astrid just what these bracelets symbolize. But that’s something we should talk about later… when its a bit more private.
Samson: I do have the key and yes we need tell her soon. That I agree.
Catriona: Now that’s something that should happen at The Cheesecake Factory as she’s distracted by their pretty expansive menu and without a drop of alcohol in her system.
She leans over and up to kiss him on the cheek.
Catriona: For now… I think we should just enjoy these Jammie Dodgers my cousin just sent over. He would’ve sent Irn Bru too… but apparently I can get that at some store in Pasadena or something like that. There’s a British shop out there that has it.
She reaches back into her bag and produces a package of the cookies.
Samson: They’re not quite oatmeal raisin cookies but they weren’t that bad the first time you gave them to me the first time I came over to your apartment.
Catriona: They were the only snacks I had on hand at the time as I hadn’t done my food shop yet. My cousin sends me snacks like… once every two months or so. He says he doesn’t want me to forget that Scotland is better snackwise.
Samson: That makes sense to me. You should never forget where you come from.
Reaching into the bag, he comes back out with the Jammie Dodger. She’s all smiles as she reaches into the package and procures one for herself, taking a bit as the scene fades away.
